Requirement checklist


  1. Completed application form.
  2. Photocopy of passport of with valid visa and original certificate of recognition for refugees or stateless persons.
  3. Original copy of notarized contract of employment/appointment or board secretary’s certificate of election that indicates the duties and responsibilities, annual salary and other benefits for the applicant.
  4. Photocopy of valid mayor’s permit (including CEZA registered companies); if PEZA registered: PEZA registration or Ecozone Authority; if construction company: PCAB or DO 18-A Registration.
  5. Two (2) 2""×2"" ID photos with white background.
  6. Taxpayer’s Identification Number (TIN) proof.
  7. If in negative list per EO-184, authority to employ STP from DOJ or PRC or DTI or DENR, whichever is applicable.
  8. If retailer or in the negative list, updated General Information Sheet (GIS).
  9. Authorization letter from the company or foreign national and photocopy of their ID."

The most common type of work visa issued in the Philippines is the 9(G) visa, also known as the Pre-Arranged Employment visa. It allows employers in the country to employ foreign nationals with skills, qualifications, and experience that may be in short supply locally. This visa entitles the holder multiple entries and exits into and out of the country while working with a company registered or licensed to do business under Philippine laws. With the 9(G) visa, the applicant is entitled to legitimately work and stay in the country for a duration approved by the Bureau of Immigration, which should correspond with their employment contract.A 9(G) is a Philippine working visa for foreigners entering the Philippines to engage in a lawful occupation. In general, it must be shown that the services of the foreign national are indispensable to the management, operation, administration, or control of local or locallybased firms. The companies must petition their employees to obtain this visa.

What are the benefits?

  1. The visa duration corresponds to the employment contract and can be extended if the employment contract is extended by the employer.
  2. Successful applicants have the privilege of both working in the Philippines and staying in the Philippines without applying for a residential visa again.
  3. Holders of the visa can have their families convert from their temporary visas as dependents of the holder and be granted the same validity period including extensions if the holder of the visa is granted an extension.
  4. The applicant's children will not have to apply for the student visas or special permit visas provided they are studying in Bureau of Immigration accredited schools as they will be recognised as dependents.
  5. Holders given promotions do not have to apply for a new 9(g) visa as they only have to inform the Bureau of Immigration through the application of new Alien Employment Permits that correspond to their new position and the new duration.
  6. The holder of the visa is eligible to have multiple entries/exits and into and out of the Philippines within the period stipulated on the visa.
